Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern will want their side to invest in new signings during the summer so their side can compete with their Old Firm rivals Celtic for the Scottish Premiership and domestic tournaments.
The Gers have managed to get back to the top-flight after being demoted back to the bottom of Scottish football, however, it appears they are still some way off from competing with their city rivals. Many feel that the Ibrox side will need to spend a significant amount if they are to catch up and overtake the Hoops, including Ally McCoist, who has told the Daily Record he believes his former club will need at least four quality players.
“Rangers will need, I would have thought, at least four players if they want to challenge Celtic for the title next year,” he told the Daily Record.
“You can win a cup, with the greatest of respect, with a bit of luck. Anyone can win a cup and that has been proven over the years.”
Rangers had made a number of signings last summer when Pedro Caixinha was in charge and a large number of those have failed to live up to expectations. Now, with Mark Allen impressing in his role as director of football, our local Light Blues would love to see him continue to work his magic.
The Rangers locals in the Tavern will be waiting to see what Graeme Murty does during the summer, although his own future remains doubtful, and will be in agreement with what McCoist has said is required at Ibrox.
