Lucaz Perez would be a serious coup for Steven Gerrard’s Rangers this summer

Rangers will be hoping to progress to the next qualifying round in the UEFA Europa League.

Steven Gerrard guided the Gers to their first European away victory for a decade by defeating Osijek in the first-leg on the second qualifying round. An 18th-minute header from Alfredo Morelos was enough to give Rangers the advantage with a crucial away goal. The second leg takes place at Ibrox on August 2nd.

Gerrard has already added ten new players to his squad this summer but wants more signings before the Scottish Premiership campaign begins. Rangers will travel to Aberdeen on Sunday to kick off the former Liverpool captain’s reign at the club. The ex-England international is desperate to add some firepower to his forward line.

Therefore, the perfect signing could be Arsenal outcast – Lucas Perez. Valued at £6.75m by Transfermarkt, the Spaniard has endured a torrid time since joining the Gunners from Deportivo La Coruna for £17m back in 2016. He made just two starts in the Premier League during his debut season in England.

Perez was subsequently loaned back to Deportivo where he scored eight goals and notched six assists in La Liga. Arsenal will look to offload him this summer for just £7m. At that price, Rangers would be foolish not to enter the fray.

The 29-year-old is an excellent finisher and would give Gerrard some much-needed killer instinct. Perez netted 18 goals in La Liga back in 2016 and would score for fun in the SPFL. He was never given a chance to impress in the Premier League – Ibrox could be the perfect home.
