Mark Allen ‘pushing’ for Rangers deal as club prepare for January transfer window – Report

Life is good amongst the Rangers fans here in the Transfer Tavern at long last, after Graeme Murty led his side to four wins on the bounce. Indeed, beating rivals Aberdeen and Hibernian on the way, the punters propping up our bar are in good moods.

In fact, the cheers amongst our local Light Blues have got even louder of late following reports from the Scottish Sun. They claim Mark Allen is putting together a list of targets ahead of the January transfer window, with Brighton and Hove Albion forward Jamie Murphy understood to have emerged as a target.

The former Motherwell man is out in the cold on the south coast of England right now and is thought to be of interest to those atop the marble staircase at Ibrox. A loan deal for the 28-year-old is mooted in the report, though Allen himself is believed to be pushing for a permanent deal.

As you can imagine, the idea of signing a Premier League striker has gone down really rather well amongst our resident Rangers fans here.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Rangers’ striking options don’t always convince. Alfredo Morelos certainly knows where the goal is, though has proven inconsistent during his first season at Ibrox and Kenny Miller is in the autumn on his career. With that in mind, Murphy would be a very welcome idea.
