It has already been suggested on countless occasions but Rangers really do need to make wholesale changes this summer in order to hoist themselves to the top of the Scottish Premiership. Surely the wait for that league title has got to end sooner rather than later.
Indeed, the wait for silverware has been far too long and fans are growing more and more impatient by the year. This is Rangers, after all, a club so used to winning, the pain must get worse without a league title day by day.
So, this summer presents itself as a magnificent opportunity for Steven Gerrard to strengthen his Gers team so they are good enough to challenge for the title at the very least next season.
A number of positions could do with improvement and whilst on paper striker looks to be one area that is solid, the potential of losing Alfredo Morelos means Rangers must replace him. Most recently, the Gers have been linked (as per the Daily Express) with Croatian forward Mirko Maric, who could make a real impact in Scotland.
Maric, (who is valued at £1.3 million on Transfermarkt) is a striker that has been bang-in-form this season, hence why Rangers have struck up a firm interest in him. With 17 goals and six assists for NK Osijek in Croatia’s top-flight this season, the 23-year-old has put his name out there and is set to get a big move this summer.
Mirko Maric is known for his physicality as a forward and the prospect of him and Jermain Defoe forming an old-fashioned big and small strike-partnership is one Rangers fans would surely look forward to seeing.
At his age, the opportunity for progression is endless, meaning Rangers and Mirko Maric could enjoy a brilliant, successful time together.
He knows where the goal is based on his tally this season and also has the movement to create further chances for his team-mates as well.
Do you think Mirko Maric would make a good signing for Rangers… Let us know!
