Rangers supporters have been in fine voice in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their side cut the gap on Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic to six points courtesy of an emphatic 4-1 victory at St Johnstone on Tuesday night.
Graeme Murty’s men went into their clash with the Perth-based outfit off the back of easing past Hearts 2-0 on Saturday in their previous league encounter, a result which moved them above Aberdeen into the second place in the table as the Dons lost to Celtic the day after. And the Gers reduced their arrears to Brendan Rodgers’ side once again on Tuesday as goals from James Tavernier, Josh Windass, Sean Goss, and Alfredo Morelos secured a comprehensive victory at McDiarmid Park, thus setting the Light Blues up perfectly for their Scottish Cup tie with Falkirk on Sunday.
Subsequently, there are many buoyant Rangers fans in the Tavern at present, and the good news just keeps on coming if a recent report from The Scottish Sun is anything to go by, which outlines that in-demand Morelos will remain at the club until the summer after another bid was knocked back by the Gers.
21-year-old Morelos only made the move to Ibrox during the summer but he has certainly proven his worth to Murty’s side, netting 17 goals and laying on five assists in 33 appearances for the club this term, 13 goals of which coming in their run to second place in the Scottish Premiership table.
As such, there has been much interest from Chinese Super League side Beijing Renhe in the Colombian services, with reports back in January detailing that the Light Blues had knocked back an £8 million bid for the forward.
And recent reports suggest that the Chinese top tier outfit came in with another improved offer earlier this week, thought to be around £9.5 million, to land Morelos, only for the Gers hierarchy to rebuff such approach to keep the 21-year-old at Ibrox until at least the summer.
And this is sure to come as good news to our resident Rangers fans, with Morelos set to be part of a potentially exciting end to the season for the Scottish giants.
Landlord’s verdict: Many of Pedro Caixinha’s summer signings haven’t had the desired effect at Rangers, but Alfredo Morelos certainly has.
The 21-year-old has scored 17 goals in all competitions for the Gers this term to help them to second place in the Scottish Premiership table, to the point that Chinese Super League club Beijing Renhe have reportedly been interested in his services.
And the Chinese top-flight side reportedly launched an improved offer before their transfer deadline on Wednesday, only for Rangers to knock that back and thus retain the Colombian forward until at least the summer.
And given how influential he has been for Graeme Murty’s side this term, this is sure to bring even more good news to already buoyant Rangers fans, who are anticipating an exciting end to the season for their club.
