As you can well imagine, the Rangers fans here in the Transfer Tavern are really rather excited about what the future might hold. As the club hunt for a new boss, the sense of optimism amongst those propping up our bar really is palpable.
Pedro Caixinha’s exit has seemed to have lifted everyone in a Light Blue jersey here in the Tavern, such was the nature of his dour reign in charge at Ibrox. However, reports from the Evening Express suggest their attempts to land one of the reported targets won’t be easy.
Indeed, Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes has been strongly mooted as a potential target, having played for the Gers during his earlier career. Still, according to the Express, the Dons will not give their man up without a fight. While he is said to be Rangers’ number one choice, no formal approach is thought to have been made for him yet.
A compensation package could reportedly cost up to £1.5m as Rangers’ director of football, Mark Allen, weighs up whether or not to move.
McInnes seems like an obvious choice for Rangers after the disaster that was Pedro Caixinha. Well versed in the arts of the Scottish Premiership, he’d be a popular choice in our bar. Worth the money.
