Rangers fans here in the Tavern are hoping that injuries don’t hamper the progress at Ibrox, as the Bluenoses eye up an all-important European place.
Graeme Murty’s side returned to their prolific ways in midweek after getting over the disappointment of a loss to Hibs at the weekend, as the Gers downed Partick Thistle in a match that was surrounded by controversy. Although, that’s not the biggest difficulty in Glasgow right now, as injuries have taken a major toll on Rangers’ pledge for a second-place finish. Indeed, veteran Bruno Alves has been suffering from an injury over the past couple of months, but according to reports from BBC Sport, defender Bruno Alves has now returned back to training at Murray Park.
The Portuguese defender has finally returned to training for the Bluenoses, after recovering from a torn calf that’s kept him off the field since the Old Firm Derby draw back in December. Indeed, this has come at a perfect time for Graeme Murty, as a midweek return for Kenny Miller has seen the Gers’ options suddenly begin to strengthen at a crucial time in their season.
Indeed, Bruno Alves has been influential in the heart of the defence for the Bluenoses, as the former Porto man continues to lead by example as one of the most experienced players within the side. A major boost that will certainly see the defensive department strengthen, with the central defender very much seen as the club’s guardian by our local residents here in the Tavern.
The Portuguese defender is one of the most experienced players in Scottish football, and for the Gers to be missing out on the services of the veteran is a major setback. Although, with him returning to training this past week, Murty will certainly be hoping for an immediate impact from Alves in a defence that struggled to keep out Hibernian last weekend.
