Rangers fans here in the Tavern have grown to love Graeme Murty during his time at Ibrox, and the prospect of seeing him take the club full-time provides a whole load of excitement.
The Bluenoses were in a spot of bother after sacking former manager Pedro Caixinha, with there seemingly being no progress made in finding a replacement. However, Englishman Graeme Murty stepped up as caretaker manager that later saw his efforts reward him with the job for the rest of the season, and now 3 months down the line he looks to be making a case for the permanent job. As according to reports in the Scottish Sun, Rangers boss Graeme Murty confirms talks will be held with Dave King to discuss future plans at Ibrox.
The Englishman was sure to put a smile on the face of many Rangers fans once again this weekend, as the Gers came out victorious in a 2-1 win over Ross County. Which has only gone to further support his quest for the full-time managerial job at Ibrox, as Murty looks to establish his long-term intentions in a dinner date with majority shareholder Dave King.
And, full of excitement for his meeting with Dave King, here’s what Murty had to say:
“The chairman is going to tell me his vision for the club, how he sees us going forward.”
“I know where we want to go. I’m interested to see if we have a time scale, interested to see what – if any – business dealings will be done.”
“What do I hope to hear about my future? ‘I’m a part of it until the end of the season.”
“I’m sure if I do a really, really good job of it, we’ll have another discussion.”
“If I can be a part of it going forward, I would love to.”
But, with business still being expected in the closing days of the transfer window at Ibrox, Murty is hoping that he can keep hold of some of his star players in order to give him the best opportunity come the end of the season. But, after taking them to a current second-place position from his time in charge already, it’s clear to see that fans have grown to love a manager that breathes and lives for the blue shirt of Rangers.
Graeme Murty has to land the Rangers job at all costs after having such a wonderful time of things so far, after re-defining a season that looked to be heading for a disaster. It looks as if the Englishman’s efforts so far have gone a long way to securing a full-time job, with his heart and soul firmly in the progression and success of the club moving forward.
