Pulling off these 2 major coups would change Rangers’ summer

Steven Gerrard has come to Ibrox with what could be seen as a poisoned chalice of a job.

The Liverpool legend is tasked with getting Rangers to compete with cross-city rivals Celtic, who have completed successive trebles. This will be no easy challenge, with Celtic possessing the talents of players such as Olivier Ntcham, Scott Brown, Kieran Tierney and Scott Sinclair.

Steven Gerrard has no previous experience of senior management, but his name and contact book should help the Gers attract a better standard of player than they have been in recent times. He has recruited the likes of Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson to make the Ibrox outfit more competitive. The signings of Katic and Goldson show that Gerrard feels his central defence is in major need of improvement.

However, its going forward Rangers need more activity. Josh Windass showed what he can do in spells, but they lag behind Celtic badly in the attacking department. They need more goals and creativity in the side. Rangers need to show some serious ambition this window, as they look for their 55th Scottish title.
