Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern will be pleased with what the side has managed to do this summer already, and will be looking forward to a competitive season.
Steven Gerrard has been busy since being appointed the new Ibrox chief and has already added seven names to his side, and it is widely thought that he will make a few more signings as he continues his rebuild.
And, according to reports by STV, the former Liverpool star is edging closer to making his eighth acquisition during the transfer window, with AS Roma’s Umar Sadiq reportedly close to completing a switch.
The two clubs are in advanced talks about a season-long loan deal, with the Light Blues seemingly seeking to add attacking options to their side ahead of the new Scottish Premiership campaign.
The 21-year-old has been working his way up in the Italian leagues having left Nigeria in 2014, and impressed in his first season with Spezia in Serie B. The forward scored 14 goals in his first 18 games for the club and earned a loan move to Roma’s youth side, where he continued to find the back of the net on a regular basis.
And news that he is closing in on a move to Rangers is sure to delight our resident Gers fans, who have so far been pretty satisfied with the business their side have conducted this summer.
Landlord’s Verdict: Gerrard is desperate to add firepower to his side, with just Alfredo Morelos his only main option, and a loan deal for Sadiq could prove to be a solid piece of business for Rangers, with the locals hoping he can replicate the same kind of figures for them.
