Following their decent run of form lately, the Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern are discussing their business in the January market thus far.
With Emerson Hyndman having notched on his league debut, the Gers in the bar are largely delighted about who’ve they’ve signed during the New Year sales, though, such is insatiable nature of the transfer window, they’re entirely hopeful more business can be done.
Which is why reports from the Daily Record are so thought provoking today. They claim the SPFL side are confident in bringing Port Vale ‘keeper Jak Alnwick to Glasgow before tomorrow night’s deadline, despite the League One side remaining stubborn over the structure of the deal.
The Valiants are understood to want the £250k release clause in the 23-year-old’s contract paid up front, reportedly not trusting the Scots to pay up otherwise after their financial situation in recent years. Current Ibrox stopper Matt Gilks is believed to be a target for Wigan, meaning Mark Warburton’s side look to have turned their attentions to the former Newcastle United ace.
“We don’t trust Rangers to pay the money so that money has to be received before we will cancel the contract”, a Port Vale source is quoted as saying.
”Unless we have the money in our bank, we won’t press that button.”
