Any player getting over 15 goals in a league season is an impressive accomplishment, and it’s even more incredible when said player is a midfielder, but that’s just the case for David Turnbull.
The Motherwell midfielder has made a name for himself in the Scottish Premiership, scoring 16 goals and assisting another six in 30 league appearances this season, and many names in the game have said how the teenager would be ideal for Rangers.
Both Stephen Craigan and Kris Boyd have said recently that the midfielder would be an ideal player for Steven Gerrard this summer, with Rangers in need of a creative spark in the midfield and Turnbull more than fits the bill, and the club should listen to these suggestions.
At 19, Turnbull is a player performing well beyond his years and has a big future at both club level and on the world stage. And, for Rangers, the Scotland U-21 international would be a major sign of intent from the team who are looking to close the quality gap on Celtic next season.
Rangers are in need of a new flow of midfield creativity in the side, and in Turnbull, Gerrard will have a player who can fill that role for next season as well as for many years to come. And, surrounding the youngster with quality players will only up his game and allow him to develop more into one of Scotland’s top midfielders.
Rangers fans, would Turnbull be a good signing this summer? Let us know!
