Rangers: Fans approve of planned loan deals for Jamie Murphy and Greg Docherty

A number of Rangers fans have been reacting to the club’s plans to send two rarely-seen first team squad members out on loan.

Winger Jamie Murphy is expected to complete a loan move to Burton Albion in the coming days, as reported by the Daily Record, while The Scottish Sun claimed that midfielder Greg Docherty could also be bound for a temporary switch to English League One, with Sunderland set to sign him on loan. News of the projected loan deals for the pair was shared by @RangersCulture on Twitter.

Murphy has made just two first team appearances for the ‘Gers all season, both as a substitute in the Premiership, with his last outing coming at the end of October (as per TransferMarkt). He has been unable to win back his place in the side after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament against Kilmarnock in August 2018.

All of Docherty’s five appearances for Steven Gerrard’s side in 2019/20 have come in either Europa League qualifying or the Betfred Cup and he has not featured for the first team or even made a matchday squad in almost five months. [via TransferMarkt]

These Rangers fans on Twitter are happy to see both Murphy and Docherty due for short-term loan spells away from Ibrox rather than being sold outright:

Do you agree with Rangers’ plans to loan out Murphy and Docherty? Should the pair be sold outright or would you rather they stay at Ibrox? Comment below with your views!
