Rangers fans are showing little sympathy as midfielder reportedly eyes summer exit

Rangers supporters in the Transfer Tavern are eagerly anticipating their side’s trip to St Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership this evening, as they know that victory will move their team to within six points of leaders Celtic.

Graeme Murty’s men go into their clash at McDiarmid Park off the back of easing past Hearts 2-0 in their previous league outing on Saturday, a result which moved them above Aberdeen into second place in the division as they lost 2-0 to Brendan Rodgers’ Bhoys on Sunday. Yet our resident Gers fans are under no allusions as to the tricky test in store for their side tonight, with Tommy Wright’s team having beaten the Light Blues in their last meeting back in December, alongside securing two draws with defending champions Celtic this season.

Nonetheless, there are many optimistic Rangers fans in the Tavern at present, several of whom are hoping their side can replicate Saturday’s dominant display against Hearts with another to reduce the gap to leaders Celtic to six points.

In the meantime though, there has been much for our resident Gers supporters to get their teeth into, not least recent comments from Niko Kranjcar’s father that his son may retire from football at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old midfielder made the move north of the border back in 2016 and has since gone on to make 26 appearances for the Scottish giants, netting three goals and laying on six assists in that time.

However, the former Croatia international suffered a cruciate ligament injury back in October 2016 which would rule him out of the succeeding nine months, and it’s an injury which continues to hinder the former Tottenham man, as per his father.

As such Kranjcar, who is out of contract at Rangers this summer, could well seek to end his football career at the end of the season, yet his current injury plight hasn’t received much sympathy from many Gers fans on Twitter…
