The youngster has yet to feature for the first team but did make the squad in the Europa League qualifier against St Joseph’s. He originally made his breakthrough into senior football under Graeme Murty but has yet to feature under Steven Gerrard, and with many expecting him to go out on loan this season it appeared that his Rangers career had stalled.
Barjonas has clearly impressed with the development squad in both the Challenge Cup and friendly fixtures so far this season and looks like he has done enough to be offered another year.
Still, the midfielder is seemingly held in mixed opinions by Rangers fans with many disappointed that he hasn’t achieved more on loan spells where others feel that Gerrard must see something that he likes as Barjonas trains with the first-team squad on a daily basis.
They took to Twitter to express their opinions of Barjonas after he scored a 25-yard screamer in the 2-1 defeat against Carlisle United, with many not sure where is future lies.
Barjonas won’t be developing any just playing in development games, really don’t get why a loan wasn’t sorted. Would expect him & Docherty to go out on loan in the next window and move on next summer

Surely Barjonas must be on the fringe of the first team🤨

Kelly is ahead for me but if Gerrard didn’t rate Barjonas I dont think we would have kept him beyond summer. Docherty seems further out picture as the season goes on.

I do think if Docherty is willing to persevere for a while, it will all come good for him, it’s just whether he’s prepared to wait. On Barjonas, I was surprised he was so involved in preseason and he obviously done well enough to be considered a first-team squad member.

I liked Barjonas when he broke through. Could do with a decent loan spell, get him playing competitively. Defo a player in there.
