Rangers: Fans aren’t convinced by Jamie Barjonas contract reports

Rangers correspondent for The Athletic, Jordan Campbell has reported that Jamie Barjonas is set for a new contract extending his stay until 2021. The story was also picked up by and reported in The Daily Record.

The youngster has yet to feature for the first team but did make the squad in the Europa League qualifier against St Joseph’s. He originally made his breakthrough into senior football under Graeme Murty but has yet to feature under Steven Gerrard, and with many expecting him to go out on loan this season it appeared that his Rangers career had stalled.

Barjonas has clearly impressed with the development squad in both the Challenge Cup and friendly fixtures so far this season and looks like he has done enough to be offered another year.

Still, the midfielder is seemingly held in mixed opinions by Rangers fans with many disappointed that he hasn’t achieved more on loan spells where others feel that Gerrard must see something that he likes as Barjonas trains with the first-team squad on a daily basis.

They took to Twitter to express their opinions of Barjonas after he scored a 25-yard screamer in the 2-1 defeat against Carlisle United, with many not sure where is future lies.
