Rangers: Fans brutal in their verdicts on James Tavernier

Rangers dropped points for just the second time this season after a 1-1 draw with Hearts at Tynecastle on Sunday with the Ibrox club conceding after a mistake by James Tavernier.
The Gers captain has been criticised throughout his career in Glasgow for his apparent defensive deficiencies (by pundits such as Michael Stewart on Sportscene via HITC), and his failed header to Allan McGregor at the weekend was another high-profile mistake this season.
There have never been doubts about Tavernier’s attacking capabilities with 46 goals and 67 assists in 215 appearances from right-back during his time at Ibrox. Indeed, even this season he has managed 8 assists and 3 goals when he is well below his previous standards.
Tavernier now finds himself under pressure from sections of the support and, after making such a crucial mistake against a team struggling towards the bottom of the league, he was culpable in the team dropping points.
With that in mind, Rangers fans took to Twitter to display their frustration at their captain’s latest blunder.
Tavernier time and time again costs us points in the big games. A defender who can’t defend

Can’t believe we’ve dropped points there. Hearts are bang average and we’ve failed to beat them because we couldn’t deal with the long ball up to the big man.
Tavernier has sold another goal, he’s gotta have a look at himself.
Also a few of the others not at their best.
Poor.

Tavernier worst performance today and that takes some doing

Tavernier has cost us our last 3 consecutive goals. Is our captain undroppable?

Didn’t deserve any more than a point there. Arfield and Ojo need a spell on the bench. See today what we miss from Ryan Jack. Tavernier – awful display.

And perhaps the most brutal of them all…
