Plenty of Rangers fans enjoyed a video clip that was posted on the club academy’s Twitter channel @RFC_Youth on Christmas Day.

The short clip shows footage of a player from the Rangers academy emphatically dispatching a penalty beyond a stand-in goalkeeper dressed as Santa Claus.

The video drew upbeat responses from a lot of ‘Gers fans on Twitter and it would be no surprise if there was a strong feelgood factor surrounding the club’s academy as 2019 draws to a close.

Graeme Murty’s young charges can look forward to a UEFA Youth League clash against Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid after overcoming Young Boys and Slovan Bratislava in previous rounds.

Meanwhile, several young prospects at Rangers have caught the eye with their performances. Teenage right-back Nathan Patterson was this week given a new contract by the club, while Nathan Young-Coombes has stood out with his UEFA Youth League scoring exploits.

Both Kai Kennedy and Leon King have attracted interest from European giants, with the former on the radar of Bayern Munich and Manchester City (as per Daily Record) and the latter reportedly impressing Tottenham, Liverpool and Chelsea (as per Football Insider).

With so much promise emanating from the club’s academy at the moment, these Rangers fans on Twitter feel that they may have yet another prodigious talent on their hands after seeing the footage shared by @RFC_Youth, with some responses of a tongue-in-cheek nature:
