Rangers fans were voicing their excitement after DUP councillor David Graham was appointed as the club’s new head of communications and media relations.
The figure was a part of Belfast City Council, however, has now resigned from the position to take the newly-created role at Ibrox (via BBC). He seems to have replaced Jim Traynor, who had been working with the Light Blues since 2012. Graham acted as a special adviser to education minister Peter Weir before the Stormont Assembly collapsed in 2017 (via BBC).
Speaking about his appointment, the former teacher claimed he was happy to join the Glasgow outfit and that he’s a lifelong supporter of the side. Director, Stewart Robertson lauded the former politician as he spoke about his passion and how he shares the same vision as the club. Supporters seemed to be happy with what one called an ‘outstanding appointment’ of the figure as they took to Twitter to voice their pleasure. Here are a selection of tweets:
