Rangers: Fans give their reaction to Davie Provan’s Hagi verdict - Rangers

Plenty of Rangers fans have been responding to Davie Provan’s column for The Scottish Sun in which he gave his take on the club’s new loan signing Ianis Hagi, son of 54-year-old ex-Romania international Gheorghe, believing that Lawrence Shankland would have been a better value addition to Steven Gerrard’s squad.

Rangers-focused Twitter channel @ibroxrocks posted a screenshot from the newspaper’s @scotsunsport account with the headline ‘Davie Provan says Lawrence Shankland would have been better value for Rangers than Gheorghe Hagi’. In Provan’s defence, he correctly referred to the recent Ibrox signing as “Gheorghe Hagi’s boy“, while the tweet has since been deleted by @scotsunsport.

Ianis Hagi signed for the ‘Gers on loan from Genk on transfer deadline day, while Dundee United striker Shankland has been watched by the Ibrox club on numerous occasions (according to the Daily Record), having scored 22 goals in 19 league games for the Championship outfit this season. Hagi, meanwhile, came off the bench to make his Rangers debut in Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Aberdeen.

The tweet from @ibroxrocks with the misappropriated headline drew a reaction from these fans of the Light Blues on Twitter:
