Rangers: Fans heap praise on Daniel Candeias after he tweets his support for Alfredo Morelos

A number of Rangers fans have expressed their appreciation for former Ibrox player Daniel Candeias after he posted a tweet in solidarity with Alfredo Morelos following an interview given by the ‘Gers striker over the last couple of days.

The 31-year-old, who now plays for Genclerbirligi in Turkey, tweeted his support for the Colombian striker in Spanish, with his backing of Morelos including the phrase “you’re the best, brother” [via @Dcandeias11]. Candeias, who spent two seasons at Rangers before leaving the club last summer, played alongside the 23-year-old on 82 occasions during their shared time at Ibrox.

On Monday, Sky Sports publicised an interview with Morelos in which he said that he had “felt racism both on and off the pitch” during his time in Glasgow and insisted that the gestures linked to his red cards against Motherwell and Celtic in December were not intended to be provocative.

Portuguese winger Candeias scored 14 goals and supplied 25 assists in 97 appearances for Rangers (as per TransferMarkt) and, following his public defence of his former team-mate, these ‘Gers fans on Twitter pined for him to return to Ibrox:

What did you make of Candeias tweeting his support for Morelos after the Sky Sports interview? Did you feel that the winger was a good player to have at Rangers and would you like to see him back at Ibrox? Have your say by commenting below!
