Rangers: Fans laud Borna Barisic despite late own goal against Young Boys

Rangers survived a late scare to book their place in the knockout rounds of the Europa League last night following a 1-1 draw with Young Boys.
Alfredo Morelos gave the home side the lead on 30 minutes, but there was late tension around Ibrox after Borna Barisic inadvertently put through his own net in the 89th minute as he attempted to cut out a cross from the visitors. [via BBC]
Despite that unfortunate moment, the Croatian was lauded by plenty of Rangers fans on Twitter for his overall performance on the night.
The 27-year-old left-back frequently halted the Swiss visitors’ advances at Ibrox, winning three tackles and making four interceptions, and he also got forward to good effect as he put in seven crosses and played three key passes. [via WhoScored]
The Scotsman‘s Patrick McPartlin felt that Barisic’s late own goal “didn’t detract” from his overall performance, while Andy Devlin of The Scottish Sun noted how he “produced some exquisite deliveries from the wide areas and had a field day attacking down Young Boys’ right-hand side”.
These Rangers fans on Twitter also saluted the defender despite his own goal:
Barisic was outstanding, very unlucky with the OG

The growth of Borna Barisic is a joy to behold! 12 months ago he was a shadow of the type of Croatian warrior we are used to seeing who stands before us now 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
