A number of Rangers fans on Twitter have sung the praises of George Edmundson after a landmark moment for the defender in midweek, with the 22-year-old tweeting his delight at scoring his first goal for the club (via @georgedmundson4).

The 1.9m (6 ft 4) centre-back equalised for the ‘Gers against Hibernian on Wednesday night in first half stoppage time when a free kick from James Tavernier deflected off the shins of two opposition players before the ball fell to Edmundson, who lashed it to the net to restore parity in a match that his team ultimately won 2-1. The Englishman has had to be patient for first team opportunities this season, with Wednesday’s match seeing him make his first league start in four months, having played just a single minute of Premiership football in the meantime. The 22-year-old, affectionately known as ‘fridge‘ by some ‘Gers fans, has made only nine appearances for the club so far following his arrival from Oldham last summer.
