Rangers: Fans laud Jermain Defoe for his ‘class act’ after Hamilton Academical win

Many Rangers supporters have been lauding Jermain Defoe on social media, after the 37-year-old delivered ‘another class act’ after the Gers beat Hamilton Academical.

As the players left the field at Ibrox on Sunday, Defoe greeted a young Gers fan waiting patiently on the sideline and posed for a photo with her, as she held the match ball.

Defoe also handed the young supporter his match-worn jersey, having just scored a hat-trick to help Steven Gerrard’s side to a 5-0 win over Hamilton that moved Rangers above bitter rivals Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership standings.

The AFC Bournemouth-owned forward’s haul of successful strikes took his tally for the term to 12 across all competitions (WhoScored), and saw that the Gers’ key attacker etched his fifth in three games after hitting the net against St. Johnstone and Aberdeen in recent weeks.

Sunday’s win was also the first occasion where Defoe played out the full ninety minutes since scoring in a 3-0 win away to East Fife in mid-August, having played no more than 31 minutes in his prior three league appearances.

Defoe has now scored a total of 20 goals in 34 games for Rangers across all competitions (TransferMarkt), and has clearly earned the respect and admiration of the Gers fanbase, going by the replies to their side’s post on Twitter sharing his ‘class act’…
