A number of Rangers fans flocked to Twitter on Saturday afternoon to share their memories of Nikica Jelavic, with plenty of them revealing that they missed him and felt Steven Gerrard’s side could do with a player of his quality leading the line now.
The club’s official Twitter account had revealed that they would be live streaming their 2010/11 away trip to Rugby Park where they beat Kilmarnock 5-1 and wrapped up their third consecutive Scottish Premier League title in what would be Sir Walter Smith’s last game in charge (as per the BBC).
Jelavic got himself on the scoresheet in the second half of the match and fans decided to jump onto Twitter to share their memories of their former forward.
Indeed, the former Everton striker was a hugely popular player at Ibrox perhaps because of his record in front of goal. The 34-year-old, who is currently playing in China for Guizhou Hengfeng, managed to bag himself an outstanding 36 goals in 56 total appearances, laying on a further 15 by means of an assist (as per TransferMarkt).
Thus, it is hardly a surprise many of the club’s faithful were left sharing positive memories of the Croatian, with some even comparing Jelavic to current Ibrox star Alfredo Morelos.
Here are just some of their reactions…
If you think Morelos is a better striker than Jelavic was for us you need your head checked Jelavic was brilliant for us

Jelavic was an unbelievable player. He had and could do everything: score, good in the air, link up the play, hold the ball up, was so intelligent with his movement. An unreal striker for us!

Hope this finally puts to bed the Jelavic and Morelos comparison not even close.
