Rangers: Fans love club post announcing Steven Gerrard will play against Liverpool in legends match

Loads of Rangers supporters have loved the Ibrox natives’ announcement on Twitter that manager Steven Gerrard will be playing for the Gers in a legends match against his former side Liverpool for charity this Saturday.
Does Steven Gerrard need to win the league this season?
Yes

No

Rangers host a select XI of former players of the current Premier League leaders this weekend, with Gerrard listed as playing for both sides in teams managed by Alex McLeish and Ian Rush.
Assistants Ian Durrant and Mark Hateley will join McLeish in the Rangers dugout, where a 25-man squad including goalkeeper Neil Alexander, defender Alan Hutton, midfielders Pedro Mendes and Charlie Adam, and strikers Kris Boyd and Peter Lovenkrands will be at their disposal.
Gerrard played 710 times for Liverpool across all competitions (TransferMarkt) during a 17-year professional career at Anfield, before joining MLS franchise LA Galaxy in 2015 as a one-time Champions League winner.
The Whiston-born midfielder also lifted two FA Cups, three EFL Cups, and the UEFA Cup in 2001 during his playing days on Merseyside, while being named the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year in 2009.
Gerrard retired from playing professionally in November 2016 as England’s fourth-most capped player with 114 outings for the Three Lions, and captained his country at three major tournaments.
Since then, the 39-year-old has switched his boots for a suit and tie, and took his first step into management with Rangers in 2018, where he has overseen 47 wins in 80 games across all competitions.
The Gers also currently sit atop the Scottish Premiership table, two points clear of bitter rivals Celtic, after winning seven of their opening eight games of the term.
Liverpool are set to bring a squad including Jerzy Dudek, Emile Heskey, Patrik Berger, Dirk Kuyt and Jamie Carragher with them for Saturday’s legends match.
Here are some of the messages shared to Gerrard being listed as a Rangers player, as well as for Liverpool…
