Rangers’ capture of Jermain Defoe this month has raised the expectancy levels at Ibrox. Indeed, while the former England international is getting on in years, he’s undoubtedly a wonderful goalscorer and could perhaps prove the difference in the title race with Celtic.
However, he’s not the only big name to have arrived at Ibrox this month. Along with Defoe, Steven Gerrard has managed to lure Steven Davis back to Scotland for his second stint as a Light Blue, tugging on the heartstrings of the Rangers faithful around the globe.
The Northern Irishman won every domestic honour available to him and helped Walter Smith reach the UEFA Cup final in 2008, during his first stint on the club’s books between that year and 2012.
A hugely popular figure amongst the club’s supporters, Davis won a recent poll we asked our readers to vote in. Given a number of different options, the former Southampton man was voted the club’s best ever January addition following his initial arrival on loan from Fulham a decade ago now.
Back in Glasgow now, it’ll be fascinating to see whether or not he can add to his legend with the best title win yet.
