Rangers: Fans on Twitter are simply thrilled for Jamie Murphy

Jamie Murphy returned to first-team action for the first time in 14 months for Rangers on Sunday in the 5-0 victory against Hamilton, afterwards posting a video on Twitter thanking all those who helped him during his prolonged absence.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me over these last 14 months. Family, friends, teammates, staff and football fans from all over. I couldn’t have done it without you. Excited now to move on with the rest of my footballing career, which I hope will be in a blue jersey 💙 pic.twitter.com/I71sJdg3T1

Murphy originally arrived on loan at Rangers from Brighton and made an immediate impact in the last six months of the 2017/18 season, scoring 6 goals and creating 11 assists in 26 appearances. This led to Rangers signing the Scotland international on a permanent deal in the summer, only for him to rupture his anterior cruciate ligament in his knee just as the season was starting.
As a result, there may have been doubts about Murphy’s ability to return to the top level but he has shown his fitness in development games and in training, manager, Steven Gerrard, said via the official Rangers website:
“It’s not just about getting him minutes – I think he deserves to be in the 18 today as he has been pushing in training and looking stronger. I think his strength is coming back in his legs now after a long lay-off. He deserved the opportunity”.
Rangers fans responded in their numbers on Twitter at the sight of seeing the winger return to action.
