Rangers: Fans plead for signings before end of January transfer window

A number of Rangers fans on Twitter have pleaded with the club to strengthen the first team squad between now and the end of the January transfer window. With just over a week remaining before the transfer deadline, the Ibrox outfit have not made any new signings so far this month.

The only additions to the squad have come from the expiry of loan deals for Eduardo Herrera and Glenn Middleton, while several players have left the club this month due to a mixture of loans elsewhere (Robby McCrorie, Jamie Murphy, Jamie Barjonas), the termination of a loan spell at Ibrox (Andy King) and permanent sales (Eros Grezda, Zak Rudden).

Although Steven Gerrard has said that there would be more outgoings than incomings at Rangers (as per BBC), and transfer target Tyrese Campbell is reportedly keen on a move to Ibrox (as per Daily Express), some of the club’s fans have still voiced concerns over a lack of depth in the squad. That sentiment may have been heightened when they had to make do without top scorer Alfredo Morelos (suspended) and captain James Tavernier (injured) for the narrow win over St Mirren on Wednesday.

The ‘Gers remain two points behind leaders Celtic and have a game in hand as they chase a first Premiership title since 2011, but these fans of the club on Twitter feel that the squad needs strengthening in the next few days to give them the best possible chance of succeeding in the title race:
