Rangers: Fans praise Livingston’s Lyndon Dykes after his performance in defeat at Ibrox

A number of Rangers fans took to Twitter to commend a player who lined up against them on Sunday but could have been in Steven Gerrard’s line-up instead had things worked out differently last month.
Livingston striker Lyndon Dykes was a reported transfer target for the ‘Gers towards the end of January, as per The Scottish Sun, before the Ibrox club instead sealed a deadline day loan deal for Florian Kamberi from Hibernian.
The Australia-born 24-year-old featured in the Lions’ attack against Rangers on Sunday and almost snatched a late equaliser for the visitors in their 1-0 defeat. With just under 10 minutes remaining, he latched onto Dolly Menga’s pass and let fly with a volley that crashed off the post, shortly before drawing a save from ‘Gers goalkeeper Allan McGregor with another opportunity (as per BBC).
Dykes has scored nine goals in 22 Premiership games for Livingston this season, one of which came in a 2-0 victory over the Light Blues’ crosstown rivals Celtic in October, while he scored one goal and set up another in their win over St Mirren last week. [via TransferMarkt]
Has Steven Gerrard taken Rangers as far as he can?
Yes

These Rangers fans on Twitter acknowledged the centre-forward’s talent, with some wishing that the club had signed him in January and others hopeful of seeing him in a Light Blues shirt in the future:

The big man causes all sorts of issues. Big, strong, aggressive and is great at the Hateley style head down for a wee man to run on to. Need to sign him up. Good to get the W.

I pictured Morelos and dykes up top with hagi behind when we were linked with him
