Loads of Rangers fans have been reacting to the club’s birthday tribute to former star Mikel Arteta, as the Arsenal manager turned 38 on Thursday.
The football world is at a standstill due to recent events, meaning clubs are being forced to resort to throwback posts and comedic videos to keep fans entertained on social media. Luckily for Rangers, they have countless legends to look back on and pay tribute to, and the latest club post was dedicated to former title winner Arteta.
Now in charge at the Emirates Stadium, the Spaniard got his first taste of British football in light blue, moving to Ibrox from Barcelona in 2002 before joining Real Sociedad and eventually Everton before finishing up at Arsenal.
And there’s no question he was extremely popular in the blue half of Glasgow, scoring on his Old Firm debut and bagging a crucial goal to boost goal difference and clinch the domestic treble at the end of the 2002/03 campaign.
