Rangers: Fans salute Allan McGregor after seeing online compilation of his saves

Plenty of Rangers fans have been showing their appreciation for goalkeeper Allan McGregor after the official UEFA Europa League Twitter channel (@EuropaLeague) posted a compilation of some of his best saves from the group stage of the competition.

The 37-year-old was ever-present in the Light Blues’ six group games as they came second in Group G to ensure qualification for the knockout rounds of a European competition for the first time in nine years.

McGregor, who also featured for Rangers on their journey to the UEFA Cup final in 2008, made a total of 14 saves for Steven Gerrard’s side in the group stage this season and kept two clean sheets in the wins over Feyenoord and Porto.

The 47-second clip posted by @EuropaLeague features two saves he made in quick succession in the 1-1 draw at Porto, as well as a reaction stop to deny Young Boys’ Christian Fassnacht – one which ultimately proved crucial as the 1-1 draw that night took Rangers through at the Swiss club’s expense (as per Sky Sports).
