Rangers: Fans share their delight as Ianis Hagi completes loan move to Ibrox - Rangers

Rangers announced the loan signing of Romanian midfielder Ianis Hagi on their official website rangers.co.uk on Friday morning, with the news subsequently shared on Twitter by @RangersFC.

The 21-year-old joins from Belgian club Genk for the remainder of the season and the ‘Gers have an exclusive option to make the transfer permanent in the summer should they wish to do so. [via rangers.co.uk]

Hagi becomes the Light Blues’ first signing of the January transfer window on the morning of deadline day, with manager Steven Gerrard telling rangers.co.uk that the club had been scouting him “for some time” and director of football Ross Wilson adding: “This deal has been structured in such a way that it works for us now and gives us options for the future.”

The attacking midfielder has 10 senior caps for Romania and featured for their under-21 side as they reached the semi-finals of last year’s European finals, as well as making five appearances for Genk in this season’s Champions League. His father Gheorghe featured in three World Cups for the country in the 1990s and played for both Barcelona and Real Madrid.

These Rangers fans took to Twitter to voice their delight at confirmation of Hagi’s loan arrival at Ibrox, with one believing it could tip the balance as they seek to win their 55th league title:
