Rangers: Fans slam former captain as he jumps on the Odsonne Edouard bandwagon

Rangers legend, Barry Ferguson, has jumped on the Odsonne Edouard bandwagon by claiming he could become a better player than Moussa Dembele and make the Parkhead club more money than the £19.7m Lyon paid in 2018, per The Daily Record.

Ferguson has not endeared himself with Rangers fans by being seen as a cheerleader for the Parkhead club’s star player. With Edouard being outperformed over the last two seasons by Ibrox rival Alfredo Morelos, many see it as a strange statement to make.

Indeed, having scored 30 goals in all competitions last season alone, it is not a surprise to see some Rangers fans left baffled by Ferguson’s take.

Ferguson said of “French Eddy” when asked about the comparison with Dembele:

“Yeah, he’s a player that could potentially be better than Dembele. I have said that a number of times. I’ve always been impressed. When he is on his game I think he is unstoppable at times”.

“He obviously continues it when he goes away with the French U-21 squad and if he keeps producing performances like that he will be in the first-team squad”.

Rangers fans took to Twitter to criticise Ferguson’s perceived favouritism considering his own allegiances and playing career, with some mocking Edouard’s recent domestic performances.
