Rangers: Fans split on whether Steven Gerrard needs Lewis Gibson

Rangers are sitting at the top of the SPFL again as Steven Gerrard looks to cement their return to trophy-winning form.
With that in mind, The Athletic’s Everton reporter Patrick Boyland believes they’ve continued with this philosophy by registering their interest in 19-year-old Toffees centre-back Lewis Gibson. The youngster signed from Newcastle in June 2017 and has played 158 minutes for Everton’s academy in Premier League 2, even scoring a goal.
Still, Rangers have conceded the least goals in the Scottish Premiership this season and that’s been a major factor in their title challenge.
Jordan Campbell, The Athletic’s Rangers writer, tweeted the story linking the Gers the Englishman but some fans were disappointed they’re going into the market for another centre-back and aren’t promoting youth. Although, some thought the complete opposite and were pleased with the interest.
Rangers have registered an interest in 19 year-old Everton centre-back Lewis Gibson, @TheAthleticUK understands.
England U20 who Newcastle & several German teams are also chasing. Can sign a pre-contact in January. More info here from @Paddy_Boyland.https://t.co/Zf4yEbHuOT

These fans were frustrated at the prospect of signing another centre-back:
Looking to play 7-2-1 next season

Are we planning to sell a centre back 🤷♂️

Whilst I’m all for buying good young talent, if he’s frustrated at a lack of game time at Everton I’m not sure that he would get more with us given hat we have 4 gold centre halves.

While these fans were excited about the prospect of seeing Lewis Gibson in a Gers shirt:
This makes sense. Young well rated centre back we’d get for virtually nothing. I wonder if an offer is expected for one of the centre backs we have now. We have seen all 4 of them play and we know they are all good players that would quite easily play every week

Seen quite a bit of Lewis Gibson playing for England youth sides and against Manchester United youth sides on MUTV. Very good player and can play left back also.

Rangers fans, do you think Lewis Gibson would be a good addition to the squad?
