Rangers: Fans think Steven Gerrard is set for Ibrox playing cameo

With the international break now in full flow, Rangers fans may be looking for something to fill their weekends and what better than a legends charity match at Ibrox?

Both sides are full of former top-class players, some more recently retired than others, a look at the Rangers defence will see Alan Hutton line up next to Richard Gough, the former started his professional career the season after the latter retired. Hutton hasn’t officially retired yet but is “without a club” and has been doing an increasing amount of media work.

There is also a small teaser. Number 8 is listed for Rangers as “TBC” and there are a few rumours flying about. Light Blues manager, Steven Gerrard, dropped a hint that there “may be a small cameo in a blue shirt” in his post-match interview with Rangers TV on Sunday via The Daily Record.

There was also the appearance of Paul Gascoigne at Ibrox during half-time, with the England legend having taken part in a similar game at the opening of Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium not too long ago.

Rangers fans (and a former player) took to Twitter in response to the mystery player that is number 8 – TBC.

Despite the clamour for Gerrard to don the famous blue jersey, there were still a few fans thinking that the number 8 shirt may be getting kept available for Gazza.

And one suggestion that might be a little less likely…..
