Rangers: Fans unimpressed as reserve team beaten by Partick Thistle

A number of Rangers fans were left unimpressed by the fortunes of the club’s reserve team after they were beaten 1-2 by Partick Thistle in a friendly behind closed doors at the Rangers Training Centre, with @RFC_Youth providing updates on Twitter throughout the game and one supporter labelling the result a ‘shambles’.

Two goals from Dario Zanatta decided the match in the visitors’ favour, with the first of those coming after just three minutes, and the 89th-minute strike from ‘Gers substitute Nathan Young-Coombes proved nothing more than a late consolation for Graeme Murty’s side [via rangers.co.uk].

Rangers suffered defeat despite having several first team squad members in their line-up – Jordan Jones, Brandon Barker, Jon Flanagan and Matt Polster have made 40 senior appearances between them this season, with Nathan Patterson, Jake Hastie and Josh McPake also getting some game-time for Steven Gerrard’s first team in 2019/20 (as per TransferMarkt).

The reserves’ defeat came two days after the senior side were held to a 2-2 draw at St Johnstone, the fourth time in their last seven Premiership games in which they have dropped points as they fell 12 points behind Celtic in the title race. These Rangers fans on Twitter expressed their disappointment with Tuesday’s result:
