Rangers: Fans upset that Daniel Candeias could leave the club

Rangers fans have been reacting to the news that Daniel Candeias could be about to leave the club with disappointment on Twitter.

Steven Gerrard revealed that the Portuguese winger has asked for permission to speak to an unnamed Turkish outfit – thought to be Genclerbirligi – about a possible move this summer.

The manager made it clear that he wanted the experienced 31-year-old to remain at Ibrox for the upcoming campaign and ‘fight for his place’ in the first-team but it appears as though his failure to guarantee Candeias the regular football he wants could see him move on.

“I said I wanted him to stay and fight for the shirt and be part of the squad but he said he wants to go and explore the situation in Turkey so we reluctantly but respectfully granted him permission,” he told the media following their 6-0 home win against St Joseph’s in the Europa League (via BBC Sport).

“He’s a good man and been a good servant so we’ll see how that one develops. I have to respect Daniel and keep a lot of the conversation private but it boils down to him wanting to be a regular starter.”

Candeias, who has clocked up 97 appearances for Rangers, has been extremely productive for the Light Blues in the final third of the pitch as he has scored 14 goals and provided his team-mates with a further 25 assists (Transfermarkt).

Fans were upset to hear that the winger wanted to explore his options and potentially leave the club this summer.

Here are just some of their reactions…
