Rangers: Fans voice their dissatisfaction as Charlton lead race to sign Greg Docherty - Rangers

Plenty of Rangers fans on Twitter have voiced their disapproval with a transfer development involving midfielder Greg Docherty.

As reported by Herald Scotland and noted on Twitter by @4ladshadadream, Charlton now lead the race to sign the 23-year-old after a planned move to Sunderland hit a stumbling block due to the respective clubs being unable to agree on the division of Docherty’s wages.

Rangers have previous dealings with Charlton after signing Joe Aribo from the Addicks last summer. However, as reported by London News Online, the London club’s manager Lee Bowyer was displeased with Aribo choosing to go to Ibrox, saying: “it’s a shame if he gets pushed to somewhere where it is not going to benefit him in his football career. If he goes to Rangers that is not the right place for him to go for his football career.”

The 23-year-old, who began the season in central midfield before being switched to a right winger role more recently, has had a strong start to life in Glasgow, scoring six goals and setting up another seven in 33 appearances. Docherty, by contrast, has played just five first team games for Rangers, the last of which came in mid-August, and Steven Gerrard is keen for him to go out on loan so that he can get more regular game-time elsewhere (as per Chronicle Live).

Meanwhile, Sky Sports reported last month that Rangers have been keeping tabs on Addicks striker Lyle Taylor, with Bowyer telling London News Online last week that the English Championship club had received “a ridiculous offer” for the 29-year-old.

After hearing that Charlton now lead the race for Docherty, these Rangers fans took to Twitter to express their displeasure with the update and some took a swipe at Bowyer following his comments on Aribo last year:

Rangers fans, would you be unhappy to see Docherty going to Charlton given Bowyer’s presence at The Valley? Have your say by commenting below!
