Rangers: Fans were happy to see Jordan Jones back in the squad on Boxing Day - Rangers

The inclusion of one man in particular among Rangers’ matchday squad on Boxing Day pleased a lot of ‘Gers supporters.

The Light Blues’ official Twitter channel @RangersFC posted the starting XI and substitutes for their fixture against Kilmarnock 75 minutes before kick-off.

The omission of top scorer Alfredo Morelos from the starting line-up was notable, although the presence of another man on the bench caught the attention of many Rangers fans.

Jordan Jones was in the matchday squad for the first time in almost four months, having been ruled out since early September with a knee injury. [via TransferMarkt]

He suffered that body blow in the challenge which saw him sent off against Celtic when the teams met earlier this season and ironically could be in line to return against the Hoops as the Premiership’s top two clash on Sunday, having not been introduced in the 1-0 win over Kilmarnock.

Jones had played in 10 matches this term prior to his injury and was picked in the matchday 18 at the expense of Sheyi Ojo, who had come under fire from some pundits and ‘Gers supporters over his form.

These Rangers fans on Twitter were jubilant at seeing Jones back in the squad on Boxing Day:
