The January window continues to get busier for the Rangers fans here in the Transfer Tavern as those behind the scenes at Ibrox continue to reshuffle their pack. With Nottingham Forest striker Jason Cummings expected to join the Gers on loan for the rest of the season, our local Light Blues are really rather happy with their business thus far.
As if that wasn’t good enough, it looks like the incomings could continue at Ibrox. Indeed, according to last night’s report from Sky Sports, the Glasgow giants are in talks with Norwich City over a move for Scotland international, Russell Martin.
The 32-year-old defender is believed to be a target of Graeme Murty’s and discussion are thought to have been held over an initial loan deal, with the Canaries skipper out of the picture down in East Anglia. A hugely experienced centre-half, the former Wycombe Wanderers man has played almost 300 games for Norwich, though his time at Carrow Road looks to be drawing to a close.
As you can imagine, the Rangers fans in our bar are delighted.
With Bruno Alves failing to convince at Ibrox, Martin is an ideal replacement. Vastly experienced at a high level, the Scotland man can help develop the likes of David Bates, in the way Alves was supposed to do upon his initial arrival.
