Our Rangers fans here in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to the end of this season now with things taking a pretty sour turn recently.
The Gers came into this year with plenty of optimism that they could at least finish second in the division and whilst that is still possible – things need to pick up quickly.
Indeed, the departure of Mark Warburton and the fiasco surrounding it has surely had a detrimental impact and Graeme Murty – despite his efforts – hasn’t managed to steady the ship too much.
A decision on a new boss is needed pretty sharpish, then, and it looks like – according to The Express at least – that former West Brom boss Alan Irvine is in with a shout.
This news may come as a bit of a surprise given that Irvine is not currently managing and is actually the assistant at Norwich.
The 58-year-old didn’t exactly enjoy a successful spell at The Hawthorns when he was in charge there, either, and so you get the feeling he’d have to do some serious convincing if he got the top job at Ibrox.
