Rangers know that this season really has the potential to be their year but only if they continue making progress and recruit some new players.
Steven Gerrard has experienced the highs and lows already this season, whilst not even halfway through the season.
The Englishman though, has been a breath of fresh air around the club, with his new ideas bringing better performances on the pitch in general.
Yet still there is a big lack of quality missing from the Gers squad, hence why they got knocked out of the Europa League.
With a squad not deep enough nor good enough, they failed to progress but now have all eyes firmly locked on winning the Scottish league.
They need better players and Stevie G could find exactly that by raiding his most hated rivals Everton, in search for a defender as good as Mason Holgate.
Holgate, (who is valued at £6.3 million on Transfermarkt) is a talented defender – though he has been told he can leave on loan – so that could see Rangers make in-roads towards winning the Premiership this season.
The 22-year-old has managed to make just five appearances in the Premier League this season and whilst Rangers aren’t desperate for a new centre-back, a permanent partner for Connor Goldson would be nice instead of chopping and changing all the time.
In what would be a loan move, Mason Holgate would benefit from playing regular football, week in, week out. Whilst Rangers would guarantee themselves another top defender that can also play right-back if needed.
Surely the perfect move for all parties involved so Rangers must hurry to secure themselves a youthful talent that wants to improve.
