Rangers report: Transfer return explored by club as Gerrard overhaul continues

Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern will be excited with what the future holds for the club this summer with Steven Gerrard in charge of the club.

The Liverpool legend took over at the beginning of the month but will not be in the hot seat until Friday, however, he has already been busy making his mark with the Ibrox outfit. He has already made a number of additions to his squad to try and strengthen it and is expected to make more in the coming weeks.

However, he is also expected to get rid of a number of players this summer as he looks to free up funds and his wage bill and the Daily Record are claiming Bruno Alves could be one of those to leave.

The media outlet have confirmed that sources in Portugal told them that Vitoria Guimaraes are interested in a shock reunion with the defender, 15 years after featuring for them on a loan deal from Porto.

Landlord’s Verdict

The locals in the Tavern will be keen to offload the 36-year-old veteran who has failed to make the desired impact with the Gers since arriving last summer from Cagliari. The Portugal international is thought to be one of the highest-earners at Ibrox and Gerrard will be keen to get him off the wage bill, however, it will remain to be seen whether Vitoria can afford to bring him back to his homeland.
