Rangers fans here in the Tavern have been heavily critical of some of their star players in recent times, and all the heckling may have gone too far as a gesture was given back to the fans.
Indeed, one player who fans have been critical of in recent times is the highly sought of Josh Windass, as the effort levels and consistency of the 24-year-old has seen him come under heavy fire. And, after scoring the opener in last night’s victory, Windass made a ‘silence’ gesture towards the fans as revenge for all that’s been fired his way, which lucky for him was unseen by manager Graeme Murty. However, the celebration hasn’t gone unseen to the eye of the media, as according to reports in the Scottish Sun, Graeme Murty vows to hold showdown talks with the midfielder after telling the fans to shut up.
Windass scored the opener for the Gers last night in a 2-0 victory over Partick Thistle, in a match where the brilliance of Murty’s side was overshadowed by the actions of the midfielder. And, after defeat at Hibernian at the weekend, fans were still yet to get over the heartbreak of the loss as they didn’t take too kindly to the events that went on.
Although, after failing to witness the gesture made by Josh Windass, manager Graeme Murty will demand answers from the 24-year-old today as he came out to say this:
“I’ll be honest, I didn’t see it.
“I’ll talk to him about it and ask why he has done it, if he has done it.
“But to be perfectly honest I don’t know why Josh does many of the things he does.”
It’s clear to see that Murty was in full defence of his midfielder after the accusations thrown his way, but showdown talks could prove quite revealing. For a promising player like Josh Windass, who has been sensational for Rangers this season, the frustration of the player caused for the kind of reaction given off. Although, this kind of action could be something that makes for Windass’ time in Glasgow to be a rather unsettling one.
