The Rangers fans here in the Transfer Tavern have so far enjoyed a fairly busy January as those behind the scenes at Ibrox look to reshuffle once again and, largely, many of them hope that continues for the rest of the month.

Indeed, many of our resident Gers believe the squad remains relatively unbalanced and pray that power brokers atop the marble staircase carry on with their fairly ambitious recruitment policy. With that in mind, comments within the Daily Mirror’s LIVE transfer blog yesterday (15:28) have proven rather interesting.

They claim the Light Blues are interested in Burnley man Scott Arfield, who has recently been touted for a Turf Moor exit. The Canadian international, who started his career in Scotland, is soon to be out of contract and is previously thought to have interested West Ham.

Despite falling out of the first-team picture somewhat of late, the 29-year-old would be a transfer coup for Rangers after his exploits in the Premier League, hugely exciting amongst our resident Gers.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Much like the signing of Graeme Dorrans, Arfield would be a huge coup for Rangers. If they can get him on the cheap, he’d be a huge addition to the SPFL and his work rate would likely make him very popular at Ibrox.
