Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking for the Ibrox outfit to strengthen their side in the summer, and will undoubtedly be excited by reports that are linking the club with a former star.
The 36-year-old is out of contract at Hull City and is thought to be closing in on a two-year deal, as manager Graeme Murty seeks to strengthen his squad as the Light Blues seek to bridge the gap to leaders Celtic in the coming seasons.
McGregor had originally extended his stay at Ibrox in 2011 for six years following his heroics in the UEFA Cup, but had to leave the club due to the administration they went through as a free agent. Reports are now claiming that a deal between the two could be ‘concluded this week’ to bring the Scottish star back to Glasgow.
The shot-stopper has been a regular for Championship strugglers Hull this season, but it is believed he is ready to go back to the club where his career began in 2001 after coming through the academy ranks, for whom he then went on to appear 250 times.
Landlord’s Verdict: The Rangers fans in the Tavern will be pleased with the news that their side are on the verge of bringing McGregor back to Ibrox, where he is a fan favourite.
The locals will be interested to see what role he has to play with the club should he rejoin them, as they already have Wes Foderingham and there is no suggestion that his place is up just yet.
