Rangers should now turn their attentions to £900k Southampton outcast

The Rangers fans in and around the Transfer Tavern are hoping that Steven Gerrard continues his summer spending-spree by adding some quality additions that could really put pressure on Celtic for the title.

Rangers have brought in a lot of players already this transfer window as Steven Gerrard looks to outwit his former manager Brendan Rodgers to beat him to the Scottish title. The spine of their team isn’t exactly the strongest and with Gerrard a former central midfielder himself should look at bringing in a talisman to dictate the run of play, someone like Southampton’s Harrison Reed, who is valued at £900k on Transfermarkt.

Ever since bursting on the scene a few years prior with the Saints, last season Reed spent the campaign in the Championship with Norwich, where he appeared in 43 total appearances throughout the season. The midfielder isn’t scared of a tackle and as shown at a high level in the second tier of English football, he can play and that has to be something Steven Gerrard looks at acquiring to help his title push.

His lack of height was seen to be a weakness but Reed makes up for that due to his tremendous desire to play and commit to the cause 100%. Rangers are a massive club so surely Harrison Reed wouldn’t even hesitate to decide whether he wants to join the Gers or not. After all at 23-years-old, first-team opportunities at Southampton aren’t looking as likely so it may be time to bag a permanent move elsewhere.
