Rangers have made a strong start under Steven Gerrard despite slipping up at the weekend.
The Liverpool legend has masterminded a number of victories already this season and he seems to have the makings of a great manager and one that could bring success and more specifically silverware back to Ibrox.
Their team could do with some improvements it has to be said and the perfect way to do that is by eyeing a midfielder, something they really need and identifying the right man for the job – Barcelona’s Sergi Samper.
Samper, who is valued at £2.2 million on Transfermarkt, is out of contract at the end of this season but with the risk that other teams would swarm in for his signature, Rangers should act fast and sign a very promising defensive midfielder.
The 22-year-old in recent times has been starved of first-team action due to recurring injuries but did get his chance to shine in La Liga when on loan with Granada in the 2016/17 season. Samper made 24 appearances and gave the now Liga 2 side stability in midfield and obviously quality, hence why he has been at Barcelona so long.
With first-time opportunities at Barcelona practically impossible to come by especially now with how great their team is, it would be best for Sergi Samper to eye a move elsewhere and that’s where Rangers come into it.
Too often and already this season, Rangers have been exposed at the back due to the lack of protection from the midfield as they proceed to attack more than they defend.
Samper is experienced for a 22-year-old and given the proper opportunity, he could be a special player for Rangers.
