The fiery character that is Joey Barton has already endeared himself to the Rangers faithful ahead of the Old Firm derby.
Doing his best to wind up Celtic skipper Scott Brown, the former Newcastle and Queens Park Rangers man is already hitting headlines North of the Border.
While the meeting between the two Glasgow titans tomorrow is undoubtedly one of the biggest in the sporting calendar, Barton has been discussing the small matter of another intercity clash.
The 34-year-old has been caught waxing poetic about his time with now-Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.
Yes, that’s right, Joey Barton and Pep Guardiola actually trained together once.
The Spaniard had a trial with City back in 2005, during Barton’s time as a Sky Blue.
Though the Citizens opted against signing the Barcelona legend at the time, the one-cap England international has revealed what it was like to train with the pass master.
“I was one of the few who spoke to him. Not many people knew who he was, which was strange, or if they did then they didn’t let on”, he told FourFourTwo.
”I knew who he was and how he played, as I had watched him for a very long time.”
“I was sceptical about whether he’d take the City job because they never signed him. He was clearly good enough. Whether it was politics at the time, I don’t know.”
