Rangers: Steven Gerrard’s stance on Connor Goldson incident enraged these ‘Gers fans

Many Rangers fans were critical of Steven Gerrard over comments that the manager made regarding one incident in Sunday’s win at Ibrox.
As noted by the Daily Record, ‘Gers defender Connor Goldson was the victim of a studs-up tackle from Livingston’s Jon Guthrie, who was shown a yellow card by referee Euan Anderson for that challenge. The Athletic reporter Jordan Campbell tweeted quotes from Gerrard after the game (via @JordanC1107) in which he agreed with the decision to book Guthrie rather than send him off.
Gerrard on potential red card for Guthrie’s tackle on Goldson:
“That’s a yellow card. I think when tackles like that happen close to the supporters and you get the reaction it makes it a lot worse. It wasn’t a red, a yellow was fair.

The Light Blues boss made no reference to the refereeing performance of John Beaton following last week’s defeat at Kilmarnock, instead accusing his team of being unable to handle the pressure of a title race (as per Sky Sports), although many Rangers fans on Twitter fumed at the official for what they perceived to be a series of injustices.
Earlier this season, Gerrard refused to call out Livingston’s Ricki Lamie despite an elbow on Joe Aribo which left the Rangers man requiring 20 stitches (as per Daily Record) and these ‘Gers fans on Twitter were disappointed that the manager did not take a firmer stand on the incident involving Guthrie and Goldson on Sunday, as one supporter called his comment ‘disgraceful’:
Red every day of the week, twice in 4 days now he’s failed to highlight really serious issues with decisions made against us, really poor from him

Disgraceful from our supposed manager. Was an ankle breaker and a red 100%.

We’re our own worst enemy honestly

That’s the 2nd time Gerrard has given a Livingston player a free pass despite trying to maim one of our players.
Aribo in September & Goldson today. Is it going to take a serious, career ending injury before he’ll start calling out the officiating and stop giving benefit of doubt

Lunge on Goldson. Another legitimate Morelos goal chopped off. The Rangers support can see it. If Gerrard wants to speak honesty, he has to call out the refereeing.

Rangers fans, do you think Gerrard was wrong to say that Guthrie’s foul on Goldson warranted just a yellow card? Share your views in the comments section below!
